    Kitul tapping is labor intensive and risky occupation. However, experienced tapper wins the game. Tapper needs to identify suitable tender flower for tapping. Bamboo poles are used for climbing support. Tappers say that it takes several days to temper the flower for tapping. However, they prefer traditional method of tempering with traditional hand remedies using herbs. Kitul sap yield from traditional method is higher than modern casper chemical treatment.     During the discussions NDF organized with the traditional rice conserving community, a problem tree making session conducted. About forty community members and civil society representatives participated. The objective was to identify internal and external threats on the community and the livelihood. Participants are discussing on a traditional rice specimen brought by a farmer. Traditional rice varieties are becoming popular claiming number of beneficial attributes over modern high yielding counterparts. Ability to grow with minimum inputs, tolerance to extreme climate risks due to floods and droughts, nutritional and medicinal properties and symbolic value on cultural identity are some of them.     Mrs. Kamala Alankara; Traditional lady snake bite healer showing a portable container used to store ready to use medicines. That was passed down to her through generations like traditional knowledge. This was made up from a buffalo horn. She says that medicinal properties last longer when stored in a buffalo horn, which is very hard. Before allopathic medical tradition dominates, traditional healers accustomed to visit home to home treating patients as a custom. Buffalo horn container was a common tool at that time.
