CCRI with community in Fera Sabua, Solomon Islands
The Community Conservation Resilience Initiative (CCRI) in the Solomon Islands is underway in three communities in northeast Malaita and Isabel province. Questionnaires, workshops, and face-to-face interviews with community leaders culminated in a capacity building workshop in Honiara prompting the development of a CCRI advocacy strategy and a legal review. The communities concluded that traditional knowledge and communality conservation practices need to be promoted and revitalised and are eager to continue the initiative. Photo by Aydah Vahia.
The CCRI project has been made possible thanks to the support of the Christensen Fund and the German International Climate Initiative (IKI). The German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety (BMUB) supports this initiative on the basis of a decision adopted by the German Bundestag.
The participatory community assessments presented through the photos and other materials have been made possible thanks to the support of the community members themselves, the facilitating groups, The Christensen Fund, Siemenpuu Foundation, the Stockholm Resilience Centre and Natural Justice.
